Said to be the geographical center of Japan, this shrine is dedicated to the Shinto gods of fertility (Ikushima) and fulfillment (Tarushima). In addition, the souls of the entire country are worshipped here as well as the guardian god of all of Japan, making Ikushima Tarushima a very distinguished shrine steeped in history.
